The Rippey library hosted children’s entertainer Will Stuck on Tuesday, June 12. Everyone enjoyed his show filled with funny stories and songs.
The library will host another children’s entertainer on July 1 at 1 pm. The shows are free. These special events are sponsored by the Greene County supervisors and the Greene County Library Association. Everyone is invited.
The summer reading program theme is “Libraries Rock!” and the Rippey library kickoff was last Friday with music, snacks and design your own mini guitar. Everyone received their reading packets. On Wednesday, Janice Johnston brought a variety of Instruments for the summer reading.
Wednesdays are our “Music Mayhem” program. Janice will be here again next Wednesday everyone is invited to take part! On Friday, June 22, we had a presenter here talking about rocks and showing her collection to the kids and adults. We will also paint Mandela Stones. Please call or come into the lbrary to learn the Rippey library’s summer reading schedule.
Rippey United Methodist Church notes:
The Perry UMC hosted a farewell reception for Pastor Rosa Soto Sunday, June 24. Pastor Rosa was appointed to the parish in June of 2015 as associate pastor, along with the Rev Paul Burrow as senior pastor. Pastor Rosa will leave soon and a “love box” was presented to her from the parish members.
Pastor Paul has been re-appointed to the newly formed parish that will include Minburn.
Pastor Catherine A. Stokes has been appointed as associate pastor to the Perry- Minburn-Rippey- Fairview Parish. Move-in day will be Saturday June 30, starting at about 9 am. Willing hands and food will be appreciated.
Starting Sunday July 1, the Perry morning service moves to 9:30 am. Perry Hispanic service moves to 5:30 pm and Hispanic Bible study begins anew at 7 pm.
On Sunday July 8, 10 am there will be a special Unified Service at Perry to receive the pastors with communion being celebrated, followed by a potluck lunch. Perry members will bring main dishes, Minburn and Rippey members will bring salads, and Fairview members will bring desserts.

Roy and Phyllis Bardole left June 12 to babysit grandchildren in Wauwatosa, WI, while Allison was training in New Jersey. We kept the home fires burning while Jason traveled to Maquoketa for Husco Intl. There were baseball games, trips to the playground, and lots of extra kids in the backyard. Chase’s collarbone is healing. We had to watch him. He is pretty active.
Allison returned Thursday night in time to see part of Levi’s game. Friday Allison had ordered a new refrigerator for Jason for Father’s Day. It was delivered while they were all on a bike ride. We took care of it, and he was really surprised and delighted when they returned.
Saturday Roy and Phyllis drove to Sturgeon Bay to stay in a condo for a couple days. Lots of rain getting there, but Sunday was a beautiful day. We drove along the south side of Door County, stopping along the way to get to the lake. We ate dinner at a nice cafe and then traveled up to see the ferry load cars and people over to Washington Island. It was too late in the day to make the trip. We headed back to Sturgeon Bay on the north side along the lake. It was a very enjoyable day. We sat out along the bay when we got back and watched a storm come in. It rained really hard in the night, but didn’t wake us.
Monday morning we headed for home. We had planned to stay another night in Wisconsin, but decided to drive on home. We drove south from Hwy 20 to escape a heavy rain along Interstate 35. We did have some heavy rain to drive in but the worst was when we turned onto our road. Got an inch and one half in that little stretch! Then got more in the night so we have just under 6 inches. There are lots of ponds.
Jason, Allison, Levi, Kate, and Chase were back in Iowa over Memorial Day weekend. It was pretty busy here with dinners at church, but we still had fun. Got our yearly picture of all the family taken. Missed it last year. ~Phyllis Bardole
